Raj: Hire More Police

From the Northeast Times:

Raj Bhakta, the Republican candidate in the 13th Congressional District, wants Mayor John Street to use a quarter of the city’s $202 million surplus to hire police officers and create education programs to keep youth away from crime.

Bhakta said violence is destroying some neighborhoods. Government’s top priority should be public safety, in his view.

"Philadelphia is quickly becoming the murder capital of the United States," he said. "If we have a budget surplus, we should put it toward hiring more police officers."
